Survey

OVERVIEW

The Costich Survey Department is responsible for all phases of survey and construction stakeout for commercial, residential, educational, industrial, wireless telecommunications and municipal projects. We utilize multiple approaches and have the flexibility of 1, 2 and 3-man survey crews depending on site-specific needs. Our surveyors utilize Leica TS06 plus 3” total station packages with R500 reflectorless EDM. These fully robotic LEICA Geosytem instruments are used in conjunction with Surveyor 2 data collector running on the latest Carlson SurvCE software. In addition each crew has GPS capability using Carlson BRx5 Base and Rover Systems with fully integrated 270 channel GNSS receiver, UHF radio and GSM cell modem. Each receiver can be configured as Base, Rover or Network Rover allowing two rovers to run simultaneously.

APPLICATIONS, FORMS, & PERMITTING

OVERVIEW

Our team is highly experienced with coordinating municipal approvals at all levels of government, including various required applications, forms and permits for a wide range of project types. We foster talented staff with excellent writing skills and aim for pristine document presentation by utilizing a combination of the Microsoft Office Suite and the Adobe Creative Suite to streamline our workflow. Real-time collaboration on various documents is easily achieved with programs like Bluebeam — something we use frequently to solicit feedback during online project meetings. In addition, municipal meeting presentations to achieve project approvals, whether in the form of a public hearing or coordination with government agencies, are typical scope items we manage well.

outreach & engagement

OVERVIEW

At Costich, we curate outreach and engagement strategies specific to each project. No two places are alike, therefore, no two engagement strategies are alike. We aim to steer clear of “copying and pasting” from one project to another. Instead, we believe these strategies are more successful as a combined effort between the area experts, be it local municipalities and stakeholders, with our seasoned team.

Amidst the new social distancing requirements due to the global pandemic, gathering community members to participate in new initiatives is a unique challenge. By aiming for variability in outreach and engagement methods, we believe we can overcome these new barriers presented by COVID-19, while disseminating important information and collecting meaningful feedback from community members and other stakeholders.

history

how it all started...

Charles J. Costich, Jr. “Chuck”

1956 | Syracuse University first Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Graduation Class

Then | Employed at Erdman & Anthony

Later | Employed at Lozier’s

1968 | He became partner of Sear, Brown, Schoenberger & Costich

1977 | The business ‘Charles J. Costich, P.E., L.S., P.C.’ was founded (later renamed Costich Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C.)

Our company founder, Charles J. Costich, Jr. — known as “Chuck”, did not know what he wanted to specialize in after graduating high school. Then, the U.S. Army provided Chuck with an opportunity, and assigned him to the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. During that time, Chuck learned all about what would later become his passion: building roads, dams and bridges. From that experience a career and a firm were born.

Costich Civil Engineering, Land Surveying & Landscape Architecture D.P.C. is a family business with highly motivated staff that strives to exceed client expectations. Our firm was established in 1977 and continues to grow, expanding our expertise and service offerings to suit our client’s needs. Whether you are a commercial or residential developer, represent an educational facility or municipality, or if you are looking for someone to partner with for an exciting project, count on Costich to provide you with cost-sensitive ideas, quality design and effective, lasting solutions.
